Olbury Fun Run Sun 21st June The Oldbury Fun Run is taking place on Sun 21st June. Access to the club will probably not be possible during the morning & early afternoon while the run is taking place. Later on the until about 5.00 access will be via the road past the church on top of the hill because there will be a fete near the crossroads in the village and that road will be shut. Please do not try to drive through the fete.

Moorings on East Dinghy Trot Due to drastically increased wear on the east trot mooring chains (the
trot furthest from the club house) caused by the steepness of the bank
allowing boats to effectively "hang" on the chains when they dry out
could owners with boats on this trot please ensure that they install an
additional mooring line to the bank ( a wooden stake and some cheap
three strand rope will do).
Owners should endeavor do this as soon as possible i.e. within the next
couple of weeks. Anyone who is unsure about what to do or is unable to
get to the club over the next couple of weeks should drop me an e-mail
or call me and I will try to provide some assistance.

Junior Coaching 28/29 May There has been a lot of interest in this course and all the club toppers are now taken.

Programme Change As per the email sent out on the 1st May racing on Sat 23rd May is cancelled to allow the 1st session of the Start Racing course to run. The programme on the website has been updated to reflect this.

60th Anniversary Regatta Evening Meal Meal tickets for the regatta will need to be purchased before 12.00. It would help with planning if people can purchase meal tickets in advance. The tickets are £6.00 each for a chicken main course & desert. Contact Julie Tarling for tickets. More information here.

There will be a working party on Sunday morning 10th May to tidy up the trailer park in the dinghy compound. The plan is to remove all the trailers, cut the grass and then leave put back trailers that are labeled. Please come and help.

On Sat 18th of April we are having another clean up afternoon with Oldbury Village. We are intending to clear up all the rubbish from the foreshore again (and a lot has been washed up over the winter). We aim to start at approximately 3.00pm, and everything needed will be provided (gloves, bags etc.) The event will be followed by a BBQ at approximately 4.30. Please come down and help tidy up the club land, the weather forecast claims to be sunny that afternoon at the moment. A poster is here.

60th Anniversary Regatta The regatta is coming up on the weekend of 30/31 May. The start times are 11:20 Sat & 12:30 Sun. There will be seperate starts for Fast Dinghies, Slow Dinghies , Cruisers each day and on Sunday there will be addition starts for Lasers as part of their Wessex Area Series. Free camping is available and there will be a meal followed by a Ceiligh on Saturday evening, there will be a galley with a selection of snacks & hot food available both days from 9.00am. Arrowsmiths have notified us of an error in their tide tables.
Please note the following error in Arrowsmith's Bristol Channel Tide Table for 24 April 2009 (page 36): low water at Avonmouth will be at 0051 hours, not 0501 as published.

The programme has been updated with the 2009 calendar & duties. The programme is at the printers and should be in the post early next week along with the March Newsletter & membership lists. |

Brian Leat who has been a member of the club since 1957 died on 14th February at St Peters Hospice.
There will be a private cremation at Westerleigh.
Funeral service will be at St Arildas Church, Oldbury on Severn on Thursday 26th February at 11.45am.
The family would like members to join them afterwards at the sailing club.
